The Anambra State House of Assembly reconvened yesterday after the Easter break, resuming plenary with renewed vigor and legislative purpose.
Welcoming Honourable Members back to the Chambers, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze, Ph.D, expressed profound gratitude to God for the success of the just-concluded Legislative Retreat held from May 5โ7, 2025. He extended heartfelt appreciation to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for his unwavering support for the legislature.

The Speaker also commended Members who used the Easter recess to carry out empowerment and development initiatives in their various constituencies, describing their actions as โa reflection of people-driven representation.โ
Looking ahead, Rt. Hon. Udeze reminded his colleagues of their shared commitment to timely legislation, effective oversight, and quality representation. He called for continued dedication to duty and to the broader vision of Project Anambra.

He equally acknowledged the efforts of the management and staff of the State Assembly and charged them to sustain their support for legislative efficiency. The media partners were also applauded for their consistent and timely reportage of House activities.
In plenary, the House adopted the report of the Committee on Public Petitions on the matter titled โ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ญ๐ญ๐๐๐ฌ, ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐๐ค๐ข๐ฌ๐ข, ๐๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ๐ก๐.โ After careful review, the House resolved that the Landlord Association should oversee the management of the estate, not the Allotteesโ Association.

A highlight of the day was the First Reading of the โ๐๐ง๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ,โ sponsored by Hon. Atuchukwu Chuddy Atusel . The proposed law seeks to establish a regulatory agency that will standardize and sanitize real estate practices in the state.
Additionally, four new petitions and two motions were presented as the House commenced robust deliberations for the weeks ahead.
