𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁

The members of the Anambra State House of Assembly, led by the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze conducted a comprehensive tour of the International Breweries PLC plant in Onitsha. The delegation included the committee members of Trade, Commerce, and Industry, headed by the House committee chairman, Hon. Innocent Ojike, who represents Oyi Constituency.

During the visit, the lawmakers were provided with an insightful history of International Breweries and engaged in an interactive session focused on enhancing the partnership between the State and the company. The discussions highlighted several key areas of mutual interest and collaboration.

A notable revelation from the tour was that International Breweries sources nearly all of its raw materials locally, except malt.

Furthermore, 97% of their packaging materials are also sourced locally. This local sourcing strategy underscores the company’s commitment to supporting the local economy and fostering sustainable development.

In terms of economic impact, International Breweries retains 89% of its economic activities within Anambra State. This is achieved through their adherence to local taxation laws, support for entrepreneurs via various programs, and substantial social investments in host communities.

The delegation expressed admiration for the company’s dedication to community development and local sourcing. Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that this commitment aligns well with Anambra State’s objectives for economic growth and sustainability.

Looking ahead, both the Anambra State House of Assembly and International Breweries are optimistic about the prospects of even greater collaboration. Such partnerships are expected to drive further economic development and ensure a prosperous future for Anambra State.

The continued cooperation between the government and private enterprises like International Breweries, Anambra State is poised for substantial economic advancement.
