ANAMBRA POLICE REPRESENTS THE FORCE AT THE NATIONAL DISCUSSION ON “EDUCATION: A PANACEA IN ACHIEVING THE SDGs” ORGANIZED BY YOCEN IN ABUJA

The Anambra State Police Command, today, Wednesday, 27th August 2025, represented the Nigeria Police Force at a high-level discussion on the theme: “Education: A Panacea in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. The Event was organised by the Youth Coalition for Education in Nigeria (YOCEN) and was held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

The event, which brought together stakeholders from government, civil society, and the private sector, highlighted the critical role of education as a driver of national development and a foundation for achieving the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.

Speaking at the event, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, who represented the Commissioner of Police, emphazised the commitment of the Police to ensuring a safe and secure environment for learning. He further stressed that security is an enabler of quality education, gender equality, and sustainable growth. He also noted that the Inspector General of Police’s Safe School initiatives are a proactive Police approach to ensuring the safety and security of schools, students, teachers and staff. Also, through community engagement, the Police campaign against Cultism and other vices (POCACOV), anti-crime patrols, and school sensitization programs, actively support educational advancement and protection of vulnerable groups, particularly children and young women.

In recognition of his outstanding professional performance and consistent engagement with the public in accordance with global best practices, SP Ikenga Tochukwu was honoured as the 2025 Most Outstanding Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Year. The award was presented by YOCEN as part of its efforts to celebrate individuals and institutions contributing to education and national development.

The Command appreciates the recognition and reiterates its resolve to deepen its partnership with educational stakeholders in Anambra and across the country, as part of the broader agenda to achieve peace, justice, quality education, and sustainable development.

The Youth Coalition for Education in Nigeria (YOCEN) is a Pan-Africa development-driven initiative that emerged as a result of the collective resolutions made during the All-African Students Union 3rd Annual Youth/Students Summit which held in 2019 at Monrovia, Liberia, The Visionary Movement was conceived with the primary objective of galvanising the next generation to ardently contribute to the advancement and progress of our beloved continent, Africa.
