The Mentorship Scheme of the 1Youth2Skills Plus Phase 2 is set to commence, following the Ministry of Youth Development’s adoption of the Mentorship Framework and Reporting Templates.

The event, which took place at the Ministry’s Office in Awka, was graced by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Martin Agbili, the Chairman of the 1Youth2Skills Entrepreneurship Scheme, Prof. Chinedu Onyeizugbe, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Engr. Emeka Tony Omatah, among others.

The highlight of the exercise was the appointment of Engr. Emeka Tony Omatah as the Chairman of the 1Youth2Skills Mentorship Scheme.

The 1Youth2Skills Mentorship, which is under the supervision of UNIZIK Business School, is the fifth and the final stage of the 1Youth2Skills Programme. It is an avenue through which the Beneficiaries of the 1Youth2Skills Business Financing Scheme are followed up by Business Development Experts for a duration of one year, in order to ensure that the new entrepreneurs are able to navigate the storms associated with the first year of business operations.
Speaking during the event, the commissioner for youth development, Mr. Agha Mba commended the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, for initiating and supporting the 1Youth2Skills Programme. He described Governor’s approval for the disbursement of Three Billion, Five Hundred Million Naira (N3.5Billion) Equipment Financing Grant and Four Billion Naira (N4Billion) Working Capital ASBA-Fund to the 8300 beneficiaries of the second of the 1Youth2Skills Programme as unprecedented in the history of Nigeria. He thanked the Governor for his intentionality and passion towards the development of the youth.

The Commissioner, finally congratulated Engr. Tony Omatah on his well-deserved appointment as the chairman of the 1Youth2Skills Mentorship Scheme, describing him as highly experienced in the task of business development and project management. He then, presented the 1Youth2Skills Mentorship Framework and Reporting Templates to the newly appointed chairman for implementation.
