Today, 10th May, the Onitsha South Local Government Chairman and Soludo Solutions 2025 National Convener, Chief Hon. Emeka Orji attended the annual meeting of the traditional rulers of Anambra North Senatorial zone of 2024, at Otuocha in Anambra East Local Government Area, Anambra State.
HRM Igwe Emeka Benneth of Umueri welcomed the presence of Hon. Emeka Orji and his entourage at the council on behalf of the Igwes in Council.
Igwe Benneth went further to appreciate the servant leader of Onitsha South, for his numerous achievements in office and acknowledge his resilience and courage in carrying out the necessary projects in Onitsha South Local Government Area.
In his words ” I wasn’t angry when my building was mapped out for demolition. I wanted to meet you but I thought it wise not to meet you because, the demolition was for the good of all”, Igwe Benneth stated.
In his speech, Hon. Emeka Orji reiterated that he appreciated the unalloyed support from Ndi Igwe for his administration in Onitsha South and that of the Governor, Professor CC Soludo.
The Onitsha South Mayor went further to say that the demolition of some buildings in Onitsha South was to restore the master plan of Onitsha South. And his father’s house at Fegge was also affected and he has no other option, but to demolish it too.
He also reiterated that the bank of River Niger at Niger Street where the sand miners destroy the newly commissioned (Niger Street Fegge) road with their heavy vehicles and overloaded sands and despite series of warnings given to them to desist from their ugly activities, it did not make any change. So the State Government through the Onitsha South Local Government has to seal off the seaside. In other to use it as entertainment and tourist center in Onitsha South local government area.
“The River bank will be used for modern tourism and leisure centers which would attract fun seekers from all walks of life when completed”, Hon. Emeka stated.
