Solomon Dalung, a former minister, has stated that former President Muhammadu Buhari is the only person in Nigeria who truly understands him. He said their relationship began about 20 years ago when Buhari personally invited him to join his political struggle for a better Nigeria.
In an exclusive interview with Political Advantage Platform, Dalung said many people have asked why he still criticizes Buhari despite the fact that he was appointed a minister by Buhari. He said Buhari once told him to always speak up and correct him whenever he does something wrong and that is why he never hesistate to point out Buhari’s mistakes.
In Dalung’s words: “So people sometimes say, ‘Why do you criticize Buhari who appointed you a minister?’. They do not know that we have a covenant that Buhari himself covenanted with me that I should not spare him whenever he is wrong. And I didn’t spare him even as a president of Nigeria I go to him to tell him, ‘Mr President, is this what we agreed on, is this what we promised Nigerians?’ And he would listen to me”.
