The Anambra State Anti-Touting Squad, Ndi Akaodo (SASA), has strongly no involvement in a viral video currently making waves on social media, describing the claims as false, mischievous, and a deliberate act of fake news aimed at smearing the reputation of the squad.
The video, which allegedly shows men stopping commercial tricycles (keke) and buses while harassing riders, has sparked public concern. However, SASA leadership insists that the footage has nothing to do with its operatives and should be completely disregarded.
“Ndi Akaodo does not perform traffic duties. We do not stop tricycles or buses as portrayed in the said video. Our mandate is strictly to tackle touts and hoodlums who harass drivers, riders, and passengers in the state,” the squad stated firmly.
The agency further clarified that its officers are easily identifiable by their branded vehicles and uniforms, unlike the individuals seen in the viral footage who wore unmarked clothing and operated without official identification.
Sasa has already switched into investigation in the matter, a move welcomed by SASA as the proper channel to establish the truth and expose those behind the misleading content.
The Anti-Touting Squad has urged Ndi Anambra and the wider public to:
Ignore the fake video and its false narrative.
Provide credible information directly to authorities rather than amplifying unverified online claims.
Stay alert to the activities of faceless bloggers who thrive on creating panic and damaging the image of lawful security operations.
SASA reiterated its commitment to safeguarding commuters and keeping Anambra’s streets free of touts and hoodlums.
“No amount of blackmail or false propaganda will distract us from delivering on our mandate. The public should disregard these lies and stand with us in ensuring a safer state,” the statement concluded.
