…says it’s a Christmas gift to the residents of the community as water remains a vital means of survival!
Despite the relaxation of Christmas across the globe, on Sunday, 24th December 2023, the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Chimezie Robinson Nkwuo took it upon himself to inspect another functional borehole and fetching points system constructed by his administration at Obeagu Awkunanaw Community, in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
During the inspection, the Council Chairman, Barr. Chimezie together with the first lady of the Council, Barr. (Mrs) Adaeze Christie Nkwuo explained that the project aimed to provide potable water for the people in line with the administrative drive of the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. (Dr) Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for the people of the state to ensure that the scarcity of water is a thing of the past for both residential and commercial purposes.
He further stressed that the hard move to ensure that the Borehole becomes functional in this Christmas period was to ensure that, the residents of the area have availability of water while celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, thus; “Part of the Council’s Christmas gift to the people and neighboring communities of the Area”.
Warmly speaking, “Our concerns are also centered on the need to reduce the burden of water scarcity within the Council Area and also to reduce the health hazards associated with drinking unhygienic water and we intend to curb this through the providence of Borehole system for the people”.
However, “We are working assiduously hard to facilitate more of such gesture and other developmental strides across the communities and wards in the Council,” he said.
While speaking, the secretary of Obeagu Town Union, and a former Councillor of Ward 3, Hon. John Egbo who eulogized the Chairman during the Inspection maintained that, “The Council Chairman has done what no man expected of him amidst jubilation in the faces of the residents.
“He further pointed out that, no man has ever remembered to salvage the issue of water scarcity within the Community, as the community is overwhelmed and thankful to the Council Chairman, for the Christmas gift”.
The dignitaries that graced the inspection were: The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Engr. Anayo Ujam; Special Adviser on Security to the Council Chairman, Hon. Chinedu Agbo among others.
