The Governor of Anambra State visited my hometown Okpoko, 15 years after he stood on the same ground and promised to transform the community, essentially an urban slum then, into Dubai-Taiwan if voted into power. He was, however, not voted into power in 2010.

I remember defecting from APGA to PDP in February 2010 to endorse his gubernatorial ambition. Besides the fact that I consider him the best candidate for the job, I had to leave APGA, because the house I helped to build had been hijacked and DISCRIMINATION BASED ON WHERE my PARENTS CAME FROM WAS USED TO PERPETUATE THE MOST UNACCEPTABLE
INJUSTICE EVER.

As an Igbo activist who believes that Ndi Igbo are one people with one destiny and any act of discrimination affects us the most, hence my commitment to fight for an egalitarian society.
The governor delivered a brilliant speech yesterday but failed to address the issue of identity crisis confronting us as Ndi Okpoko and the derogatory remarks that go with it.

We will continue to fight for our identity, our integrity, and our personality as equal to any other Anambrarian. A situation where more than 80 percent of the voters are denied their constitutional rights and privileges cannot endure for long. Fighting discrimination and man’s inhumanity to his fellow man amongst Ndi Igbo is very difficult as well as a lonely journey. But it’s a Job that someone must do for freedom to reign.

Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo is back after 3 years in office as the governor to account for his stewardship.
My home town, Okpoko, is not yet Dubai, Taiwan, but we are no longer the slum of Nigeria; we are indeed New Haven, as the governor baptized us. This governor promised and has kept his promises. This governor has demonstrated genuine love towards Ndi Okpoko. But like Oliver Twist, we will continue to ask for more. Soludo is the Ekwueme of our times and the Olu atu egwu we know. We will continue to remind him that a second-class citizen in the USA White House remains so, and we can not accept that status.

I am so happy with the governor’s politics of development and his determination to fight for our better tomorrow; that is why I endorse his second-term bid.
