Our attention has been drawn to a trending video in the social media where the member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency Hon Afam Ogene in which he accused Gov Charles Soludo of not providing security to the Constituency especially Ogwuikpele and Ogwuanocha.
In the video also Ogene complained over the kidnap of a Traditional Ruler in 2021 who has neither been found nor been released contending that the Governor has chosen to turn blind eye to the security threats in the two Communities.
He equally claimed that it is through the Oil and Gas deposit in the area that earned Anambra State membership of the Niger Delta Developmental Commission NDDC and the 13 percent derivation fund is being paid to the state yet government is not providing infrastructure for the people of Ogbaru local government area.
Much as we would not want to join issues with Hon Afam Ogene, it is instructive to set the record straight.
- When the kidnap of the Monarch occured, Gov Charles Soludo was not the Governor of Anambra state and security operatives have been investing the incident to nip the crime on the board.
- That before the emergence of Gov Charles Soludo into the saddle eight local government areas were under the strong hold of the unknown gunmen but today those local government areas have taken back their homes following the proactive and superlative actions of the Anambra Joint Task Force on Security instituted by Soludo administration including Ogbaru Local Government Area.
- That the claims by Ogene that there are no infrastructure in Ogbaru local government area is bogus and an affront to throw spanners into the good works of the Anambra state government which since inception commenced the massive construction of over 450 km of roads while over two 200km have already been commissioned which include roads in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
- That Communities like Okpoko, Odekpe today are enjoying pipe borne water with Tarred roads and street lights and five other roads are currently under construction in the same Council area.
- It is important to note that Ogbaru Local Government Area now has a General Hospital which the area never had since the creation of the old Anambra State and 3,000 health workers have been employed as well as 5,000 teachers recruited while Anambra children are enjoying free education from Basics to Junior Secondary School 3 which Ogbaru Local Government Area is a beneficiary.
6 It is instructive to observe that the same Hon Afam Ogene is a two term member of the Federal House of Representatives and has not deemed it important to table issues of oil bunkering in Ogbaru town which is being aided by the miscreants in his Federal Constituency before the National Assembly.
7 Ogene”s foray into comparing Gov Charles Soludo who has served the state for two years now with the Governor of Abia State Alex Otti who is yet to complete one year in office an indication that goes to show that his analysis smack of share party loyalty losing sight of the fact that we don’t play politics with the the welfare of the masses.
8 . We urge the General Public to discountenance those false and malicious claims of Hon Afam Ogene who so far is yet to connect to members of his Constituency despite being a ranking member of the Green Chambers.
