The Onitsha South LGA Chairman Hon Emeka Orji (Dikediebube Onitsha South) kicked off the Interstate friendly match between Primus City FC Asaba, Delta State, and the Island All Stars Sports Club, Lekki Lagos State, today April 27th, 2024, at The Stephen Keshi International Stadium Asaba, Delta State.
The Onitsha South Council boss encouraged the teams to see the match as a friendly affair, as he also admonished the teams to play freely and safely.
The center referee, Okonta Emmanuel began the match at 12:30 pm.

At the end of the first half, the match stood at 2 – 0 against Primus FC Asaba and both goals were scored by Ike Ibeh, Jersey Number 22, of All Stars Sports Club Lagos.

At the resumption of play in the 2nd half, the Primus FC Asaba reduced the goal deficit through a penalty converted by Ukoh Sunday wearing Number 3 Jersey for Primus FC, and the equalizing goal of the match was scored towards the end of the game, through Iyke Ohaemesi of Jersey Number 12, for Primus FC.
Highlights were the recitation of the club’s anthem by both teams and musical entertainment from the supporters of both teams.
Shortly after the match, the President of Primus City FC Asaba, Chief Okwudili Obinwanne spoke with the press, stating that today’s match was a return leg of an earlier fixture, which ended 1-1 apiece at Lagos.
Saying, “We had a lovely and fantastic game, I appreciate my team”.
He equally appreciated The Onitsha South LGA Chairman, Hon Emeka Orji (Dikediebube Onitsha) who had won the prize as the Best Chairman, South East region of Nigeria, for his presence in the match, as he has always been there for them and as a true sports lover.
Also speaking, the President of Island All Stars Sports Club Lagos, Mmaduagwu Ikenna Okechukwu Anajemba said Primus FC Asaba came from behind to equalize the match. Saying that they know the quality of the home team, and would rather do everything to ensure they win or bring the game to parity
in their home ground. Noting that the club came prepared to take victory home from here, but since they can’t achieve that, they are happy with the result of the match. The home team had to do everything within their arsenal to equalize the game to preserve their pride as having not lost to any visiting team in their home.
He emphasized that the essence of the match is to promote sports that bring all people together and to know each other while fostering brotherhood through sports and networking amongst themselves.
Meanwhile, the medical team was also present during the match, to give first aid treatment to players when necessary.
Dignitaries present include Onitsha South APGA Vice Chairman, Chief Afam Udeogalanya, Fegge Stakeholder, Comrade Dunu Chiadikaobi,
Fegge Stakeholder, Hon Tochukwu Umeobiaeri, amongst others.
