WOLIWO COMMUNITY APPEALS TO THE STATE GOVERNOR PROFESSOR SOLUDO TO CONSIDER THE AREA FOR PRIORITY ATTENTION

Woliwo Community Welfare Association members, Onitsha South Local Government Council, are appealing to the state Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo, to include the community in the infrastructural Development of Anambra state.


According to members of the Woliwo Community, during a meeting of stakeholders in the area, Who noted that neighboring areas like Okpoko and Fegge, are now wearing a new look with Hospitals, street lights, and good Roads, while Woliwo seems to be neglected, even though the area is densely populated with the highest number of voters in the entire Onitsha south Local government area.


In her speech, the convener of the Woliwo Community Welfare Association meeting, Hon Mrs GraceAnaekwe popularly known as Madam Black, said the area is the only Community yet to receive any security vehicle or motorcycle from previous administrations in the state. She said the Community is giving priority attention to the security of lives and property and decided to adopt the community self-help program to erect security Towers and Gates, including the installation of CCTV cameras in strategic places in the area to help in monitoring activities of criminal elements in the community.

Hon Mrs Anaekwe announced that Woliwo Community Welfare Association has been formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, stating that efforts are ongoing to present the challenges facing the community to the state Governor.
According to Honourable Anaekwe, the Community is solidly behind Governor Soludo for his second term, as it will enable him to complete the numerous projects in the state.

Other speakers at the stakeholders meeting included, the president-general of the Community, chief Ifeanyi Onwuegbuchulam, a Representative of the landlords, chief Vincent Food, the chairman of works committee chief Cosmas Nwugo, a community leader, pastor Obiora Tagbo and Evangelist Johnson uba, in their respective speeches expressed satisfaction with the transformation taking place in the state while calling on Governor Soludo to give Woliwo Community a sense of belonging by providing them with the required amenities.

Highlights of the event were the inauguration of nine committees and good messages to the governor on his Election as the vice chairman of Southern Governors Forum and the emergence of Hon Emeka Orji as the Transition chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area. The Community later paid a courtesy call to the Transition chairman of Onitsha South local government Area, Hon Emeka Orji.
